The sword project has been around for years. Its a great free tool for bible study. The sword project includes material from both christian and non-Christian resources. Requirements for the inclusion of information in the software are very liberal but makes for a great study resource as it contains many different points of view both biblical and non. This initial download includes the KJV, Strongs and Robinson. Commentaries, Study Guides, Books and other material are available. You may want to visit http://www.crosswire.org/sword/software/biblecs/index.jsp as they may have a more recent version. This is also a great resource for help and documentation on how to use the product.
After installation you'll need to setup the installation manager to download additional commentaries and material. It is all free. To setup and download additional material.
- The SWORD Project for Windows should first be downloaded and installed. The Install Manager is included with The SWORD Project for Windows.
- Start Install Manager by choosing Start->The SWORD Project->Install Manager from your Windows [Start] menu.
- From the menu, choose 'Options' then 'Manage Remote Sources...'
- READ the warning and click 'OK' if it is OK.
- Click 'Add' and fill in the following info:
Site Name: CrossWire Bible Society
Site Machine Name: ftp.crosswire.org
Repository Directory: /pub/sword/raw/
- Click 'Save' to save your new remote download source.
- You should now see a new tab on the main screen titled CrossWire Bible Society. Click this tab.
- Click the 'Refresh from Remote Source'. The Install Manager will now go out to CrossWire and retrieve the current available module information.
- Once that process is done you will have a list of available SWORD Module Add-ins available for installation or upgrade.
- To install a module click on it's name and then click 'Select' on the bottom (or double-click the module name), an arrow will appear to the left of the module if it is selected.
- Once you have selected all the modules you want to install click the 'Install' button on the bottom.
