Keyword Selection
Keywords are the words you use on your Church's site that Search Engines will pick up. While writing this article I've italicized every instance of "church, search, engine and SEO to demonstrate this concept. There are 32 instances of "Church", 15 instance of "Search" and 11 instances of Engine. When I started to write this article I decided these were the words most relavant. I have used these words as often as an oppertunity presented it's self. This page should rank higher when someone searchs for "Church Search Engine" then an article someone wrote that had less instance of these words. This applies both in an article and across the site. Decide ahead of time 5 to 10 words you want to emphasize on the site and then use them whenever you can.
For example if the name of your church is First Baptist Church of Salt Lake City don't abreviate it as FBCOSLC. You want to use the words like "Baptist" "Salt Lake" and "Church" as often in your site as possible. These are keywords and will raise your sites relavance when some one searchs for "Baptist Church in Salt Lake City".
In high school most of us had to take a course on writing. One of the rules was not to use the same word over and over again but to break out a thesaurus and vary our language. When you write on a website throw this out the window. If the article is about "redemption" use the word "redemption" every time it's appropriate. One warning on this don't go and lace keywords that aren't relavant if it's appropriate and it adds value use otherwise dont or you'll actually get ranked lower for it.
